或许自从宋玉开“悲秋”之先河后，中国诗人描写秋天就很少能摆脱“秋风萧瑟天气凉，草木摇落露为霜”的意境。刘梦得的“自古逢秋悲寂寥，我言秋日胜春朝”算不得主流，而遣词也颇觉牵强，“晴空一鹤排云上”的勉力挣扎，更显得是为唱反调而赋，诗情失真，意境也自然落了下乘。
其实，刘梦得希望打破前人藩篱的想法当然值得赞赏，只不过他用的方法稍嫌欠缺，一鹤排云，并不能稍减秋天的肃杀气象，而万家收获，才能显得秋日也生机勃勃。可惜中国传统的士大夫文人阶层，从孔子起就“四体不勤，五谷不分”，少有描写工农下层阶级生活的佳作，苏学士吟“日暖桑麻光似泼,风来蒿艾气如薰”尚算不错，可惜不忘“使君”身份，堪为可惜。
如果文人士大夫们肯走出屋门，走在千家万户忙收获的田野上，看看那些挂满汗珠的笑容，在他们的诗中，还会那样充满“关河冷落，残照当楼”的气息吗？他们是否，也能写出如约翰·济慈这样充满热情的歌颂秋之美丽的诗作？
济慈这首诗观察细腻，读时仿佛是在欣赏一幅美丽的秋景图，沉甸甸的枝头，苹果、葡萄、葫芦……，似乎活生生在眼前晃悠，让人从心底感觉春华秋实，秋天的旋律，一点也不比春天逊色。
突然发觉，我已很久没有走出这座城市了。或许，也该出去走走吧。
To Autumn
1
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,⑴
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun,⑵
Conspiring with him ⑶how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;⑷
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

(2)Maturing sun：使万物成熟的太阳。
(3)him：指太阳。在这里，诗人把秋天和太阳都人格化，因此，conspiring这词的运用就颇具幽默感。
(4)bless/with fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run： 这半句的正常语序是：bless the vines that run round the thatch-eves with fruit，意为：赐福给屋檐周围的葡萄藤累累的果实。

作者简介：
英国19世纪浪漫主义的重要诗人。他出生在伦敦一个马车店主之家。父母早丧，少年辍学。曾学医谋生，后弃医从文。1816年发表处女作《哦，孤独》，1818年长诗《安狄米恩》出版，遭到保守派的尖锐的评击，也受到著名诗人拜伦和雪莱的重视与鼓励。从此，他诗情奔放，一泻千里，写出了大量脍炙人口的名篇，如长诗《伊莎贝拉》和抒情诗，《希腊古瓮颂》，《夜莺颂》，《秋颂》等，奠定了他在英国文学史上的崇高地位。是时，诗人身患肺结核，1820－1821年赴意大利旅游养病,不幸早逝,葬于罗马。死时年仅25岁。
作品赏析：
This poem was written by John Keats (1795-1821) in September 1819. He was busy writing the long poem—Hyperion that summer. In the autumn he took a walk in the suburbs of Manchester for relaxation when suddenly having the inspiration to write the poem—To Autumn. The first stanza describes the general scenes of autumn, and the second part shows us a picture of harvest, emphasizing on the sense of vision, while the last part puts emphasis on the sense of listening as the autumn is finishing its duty
诗人开篇就抓住了秋的实质—成熟，然后他再由此展开想象，把读者的目光从湛蓝的晴空带到挂着藤蔓的屋檐，从房前的老树到成熟的田野。诗人着力描写秋天成熟的果实：紫色的葡萄，鲜红的苹果，金黄的葫芦，黑褐的榛子，伴随着欢唱的蜜蜂和迟开的花朵，一幅绚丽多姿的初秋美景就鲜明生动地展现在眼前。
